Śalyaka is sweet, light, cooling, reduces pitta, and is said to counter poison. Priyaka is considered suitable in vāta conditions, while python is said to be suitable for piles. Snakes are described as reducing durnāma, vāta disorders, worms, and dūṣīviṣa; as beneficial for the eyes; sweet after digestion; and promoting intellect and agni. Among them, darvīkara and dīpaka snakes are said to have a pungent post-digestive effect, to be sweet and especially beneficial for the eyes, and to promote the passage of stool, urine, and vāta.
