Snakes are described as reducing durnāma, vāta disorders, worms, and dūṣīviṣa; as beneficial for the eyes; sweet after digestion; and promoting intellect and agni. Among them, darvīkara and dīpaka snakes are said to have a pungent post-digestive effect, to be sweet and especially beneficial for the eyes, and to promote the passage of stool, urine, and vāta.
